Non-Lead Alternative: Silflex
MarShield introduces a new radiation shielding product, Silflex: Flexible, tungsten impregnated silicone pieces. 
This versatile form or shielding comes in a variety of shapes for use in many hard-to-shield applications. It is non-toxic, easy to work with and cut, and the lightest shielding available at 4.5 lbs per square foot. It is ideal for shielding small pipes, such as those smaller than 1” in diameter. This non-hazardous product offers effective radiation protection wherever it is needed. It is highly resilient to boric acid and sodium hydroxide, and can be used in temperatures ranging from -50º to 250ºC.
Available Products and Sizes:
Tapes: Available in various sizes, 1/8” – ½” thick 1 x 12” wide to 10- 15’ long rolls of Silflex material.
Pipe Wraps: Available in custom diameter widths, thicknesses and heights. Elbows, tees, and valve shielding also available.
Flooring: Flooring for solid and grated platforms. Available in two textures: Anti-skid or smooth. Also available in two colours, yellow and natural. .jpg)
Blankets: 1/8” to custom specified thickness x up to 5’ wide x up to 10’ long.
Putties: High density putties available in emergency hot spot remediation kits sealed in a disposable latex covering.

The blankets are tear-resistant and flexible, cost effective and can easily be wrapped around objects, such as pipes, to provide customized radiation shielding exactly where it is needed.
