MOBILE & STATIONARY RADIATION SHIELDS & BARRIERS

GENERAL INFORMATION & DESCRIPTION:

MarShield manufactures standard and custom designed Radiation Shielding Barriers as a portable or stationary unit. MarShield full body shielding barriers are designed to shield medical personnel from harmful secondary radiation in examination rooms, operating rooms, intensive or cardiac care units, mammography, and nuclear medicine suites. Our Radiation Shielding Barriers incorporate an acrylic clear viewing panel in the top with a solid opaque panel in the bottom, both of varying sizes. The optically clear lead acrylic panel is durable and shatter resistant while offering a wide field of view. The solid panel is constructed of a single un-pierced sheet of ASTM B-29 lead of desired thickness laminated between two steel panels. The shield is balanced for stability with heavy duty outrigger type legs. All panels are housed in a mild carbon steel frame with an ivory powder coat finish. All models can be made with one full length solid opaque panel or a full length Acrylic view panel. The mobile units are supplied with heavy duty non marking swivel casters that are easily locked into position when required. Our Stationary models are equipped with predrilled anchoring pads for fastening the unit directly to the floor.

All shields are shipped fully assembled in a palletized box for ease of handling during transit while offering maximum protection. Complete stainless steel models are available on request.

MODULAR LEAD LINED BARRIERS

MarShield supplies a CLEAR-Pb Lead Plastic Modular X-Ray Control Booth. These modular barriers and window panes provide the correct degree of radiation protection needed, while offering a distortion free panoramic viewing of the patient and equipment. These window panes are available in lead equivalencies from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm mounted in a durable, sturdy and lightweight lead-lined bottom panel with 1.5 mm lead equivalency. These booths can be fabricated into large continuous window panes-up to 6 x 8 feet or larger on special requests. Our booths are extremely easy to install in a very short and safe time frame, typically in just a few hours. The assembly is very simple with all the hardware neatly hidden under snap-on tie channels, making the finished control booth visually striking to any facility. They can be changed or rearranged, added to or taken away from at any time without expensive labor or repairs should the need arise. Effective radiation protection is always guaranteed, because the modular control booths extend from the floor to 84” high. Our solid bottom panels are 1-1/2” thick providing the space savings for tight-fit applications. The bottom panels come in a variety of colors (formaldehyde-free) making it easy to co-ordinate with any design needs. All the visible hardware and supports, including the new protective kick-plate are fabricated from high quality anodized aluminum. The panels have a honeycomb inner wall construction that is sandwiched between a lead-lined vinyl laminate. These x-ray shielding modular booths offer the ultimate in design possibilities at competitive prices and with short lead times, all from a company whose mainbusiness is radiation protection!

How to order and assemble CLEAR-Pb Lead- Plastic Shielding Window Panes and Modular Control Booths

(A) CLEAR-Pb Lead- Plastic Shielding Window  Pane
See below for ordering information

(B) Opaque Shielding Panels: The High-Style panels are available in 16 different coloursof vinyl laminate. The Classic panels have a durable, polyethylene beige paint finish. Both are lead-lined to provide 1.5 mm lead protection.

(C,D,E) Vertical Coupling Channels: The High-Style panels are made of brushed anodized aluminum. The Classic channels are made of steel. Both are lined with lead, facing the x-ray source, (except 56-831 end channels). Minimum 1.5 mm (0. 06 inch) lead equivalent.

(F) Horizontal Coupling Channels: Provide shielding overlap as well as structural connection between the CLEAR -Pb window pane and the opaque panel.

(G) Floor Channels: High-Style is designed as a kick plate and is 5.50 inch high. The Classic is 0.75 inch high. Both are predrilled for bolting to the floor.

(H) Tie-Rods: (Not needed for High-Style Mobile Control Booths.) Any 84 inch vertical channel or end-channel can be anchored to the wall or ceiling by means of an adjustable, two piece tie-rod. One end of the rod fastens to the top of the vertical channel; the end attached to the wall-mounting bracket that has been affixed to the wall. Tie-rods can also be connected ceiling beams.

(I) Tie Channels: A tie-channel prevents separation of the end-channel from its window pane. It must be installed between the tops of each vertical end-channel and the nearest vertical coupling channel.

(J) Wall Mounting Brackets: (Not needed for High-Style barrieers.) A 34 inch long, 16 gauge steel bracket is mounted horizontally on the wall.

(K) Channel Spacers: For use when CLEAR -Pb window panes of 22, 18, or 12 mm thickness are installed. The spacers are installed along the rear edge of the vertical and/or horizontal bracket to prevent movement of the window pane.
